The release of Limo’s new products allows Mercedes-Benz to use low viscosity engine oil.

If gasoline is the food of the engine, then engine oil is the blood of the engine. It is not only lubrication, but also sealing, cooling, cleaning and neutralizing acidic corrosive substances. At present, many car owners are fooled by 4S shops, and they are recommended to use 5W-40 or upgrade to 0W-40 oil when maintaining and changing oil. Undeniably, engine oil with viscosity of 40 is a panacea, which can be used in any car and will not damage the engine. However, with the increasing demand for environmental protection in society, 40 viscosity engine oil is not friendly to the fuel economy of the engine. In terms of driving experience, high viscosity will also make the power output of the vehicle sticky, the throttle will become heavy, and the taxi distance will be shortened. This is because high viscosity engine oil increases the internal resistance of the engine.
From this point of view, Japanese cars are the most prescient. As early as more than 10 years ago, low viscosity engine oil such as 5W-20/0W-20 has been used in Japanese car engines. Compared with 40 viscosity engine oil, 20 has greatly improved hot car efficiency, fuel economy and power response. At present, the most extreme Japanese native engine oil has reached the level of 0W-16 or even 0W-8, and it is basically as thin as water at room temperature. Japanese cars save fuel, and besides the technology of the engine itself, low viscosity engine oil also contributes.

But can such a thin oil still protect the engine from wear and tear? Can it still play a sealing role? In fact, the base oil of engine oil is just a carrier, and it is the additives in engine oil that really reduce wear and wear, such as molybdenum disulfide, organic molybdenum, hexagonal boron nitride, C60 (fullerene), organic molybdenum fullerene and traditional ZDDP and other anti-wear components. As for the sealing function, Japanese engine manufacturing technology is the most sophisticated in the world, and the gap between various parts, especially the gap between the piston and the cylinder, is very small, so the low-viscosity engine oil can solve the sealing problem between the piston and the cylinder wall. At the same time, the working temperature of Japanese car engines is also relatively low, which can also protect the oil film of low viscosity engine oil from being torn by high temperature, thus losing its lubrication and protection ability.

Although low viscosity engine oil has many benefits, it is not suitable for all models. Except for most Japanese engines, there are only a handful of engines in Germany, America and France that can adapt to XW-20 low viscosity engine oil. However, with the progress of German engine manufacturing technology, the low viscosity engine oil of XW-20 can also be used in future engines of Mercedes-Benz. In hardware, Mercedes-Benz has improved the precision of parts and appropriately reduced the working temperature of the engine, and the use of low-viscosity engine oil can provide sufficient lubrication and protection. Compared with the current certification of Mercedes-Benz MB229.5 and MB229.51, the new engine oil certification of Mercedes-Benz MB229.71 has greatly improved the fuel economy.

Many people only know SAE viscosity when choosing engine oil, such as 5W-40. If you know a little, you may see whether API certification is SL or SN level, but these are actually superficial technical standards. Choosing a suitable engine oil depends on many parameters. For example, it is best to look at the European ACEA certification for German cars, which is stricter than the API certification, and the stricter certification than the European ACEA is the certification of each European OEM, such as Mercedes-Benz MB229.71, Porsche C30, A40 and so on. Among the manufacturers’ own certifications, the certification of Mercedes-Benz MB series is the most stringent. It can be said that the engine oil with the same SAE viscosity meets the certification of Mercedes-Benz MB, which is universal for European cars (except for super running).

It is not easy for an engine oil to pass the MB certification of Mercedes-Benz, and it is even more difficult to pass the latest certification of MB229.71. As the first automobile aftermarket brand in Germany, Limo has successfully developed low-viscosity engine oil that conforms to Mercedes-Benz engines. Limo Top Technology 6300 0W-20 is such a synthetic engine oil, with a high temperature shear value of 2.6-2.9 at 150℃, a viscosity value of about 8 at 100℃ and an alkali value of about 7.6. Under the premise of keeping the oil film stable under extreme working conditions, the special low viscosity formula can significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions. At the same time, the low ash formula of this engine oil can avoid the blockage of the exhaust gas treatment device, and it has obtained the MB229.71 certification issued by Mercedes, and also meets the official certification requirements of Jaguar Land Rover STJLR.51.5122

In addition, Limo also released another new engine oil, stunt DX1 5W-30 engine oil. In addition to the characteristics of reliable lubrication, efficient cleaning and lasting protection, its special additive formula can effectively suppress the low-speed pre-combustion problem of small-displacement turbocharged engine and significantly prolong the service life of the engine. At the same time, the API grade of this oil has been upgraded from SN to SN Plus, which can effectively suppress the wear problem of timing chain in modern engines equipped with variable valve timing/variable valve lift technology.
As we all know, low-speed pre-ignition means that the mixture of gasoline, air and engine oil vapor starts to explode and burn before the piston is compressed and the spark plug is ignited, which is very harmful to the engine. Power Magic stunt DX1 engine oil vapor can increase the ignition point of the mixture, thus reducing the probability of knocking. Some people may ask, how can engine oil also reduce detonation pre-ignition? When all engines are working, the mixed gas in the cylinder will be burned by gasoline and engine oil vapor from the crankcase except gasoline and air. At this time, there must be engine oil vapor in the mixed gas in the cylinder, but this is not what everyone calls "burning engine oil". The consumption of engine oil at this time is negligible, but it has a certain ability to prevent explosion and shock and burn early.

Not only that, Limo also released fuel additives for hybrid engines. The engine of the hybrid vehicle starts and stops frequently. In the cold state, the fuel will not burn fully when starting and stopping, and carbon deposition is easy to occur. The special gasoline additive for Limo hybrid can effectively reduce the carbon deposition on the cylinder and valve and keep the engine running healthily.

Finally, let’s talk about the selection of engine oil. In addition to the suitability of SAE viscosity, it depends on three important parameters: viscosity at 100℃, high temperature shear value HTHS at 150℃ and alkali number. The viscosity of 100℃ indicates whether the viscosity and fluidity of engine oil can play a sealing role when the engine reaches the working temperature. The smaller the value, the better the fluidity, and the smaller the resistance to the engine, the more fuel-saving, but the noise will be relatively improved and the sealing will be relatively reduced, resulting in the increase of speed but insufficient power, especially when running at high speed. The high temperature shear value HTHS at 150℃ represents the oil film strength when the engine is working. The higher the value, the better the protection. For example, German cars are currently required to be above 3.5. Alkaline number refers to the pH of engine oil. Engines are all made of metal, and the pH of metal is alkaline, so it is afraid of acid corrosion. The higher the base number, the better the long-term performance of the engine oil, which can neutralize the acidic substances that rush into the crankcase when the cylinder is burning. When selecting engine oil, don’t just look at the SAE viscosity XW-X0. The above three parameters are more representative. Some people will definitely say that it is necessary to change the car after five years of driving and the oil can’t be changed several times. Of course, for ordinary consumers, it can be maintained according to the standards of 4S shops, but if you want a smoother driving experience, a lighter throttle and a farther taxi, a quiet engine or a more fuel-efficient engine, it is necessary to study how to choose a really suitable engine oil.
